Some thoughts on your worm bin - the worms don't like light, so the clear bin is not great. might want to paint it so it's more opaque. Also, I don't know if fruit flies are a problem where you are, but I've found they love to breed in my bin. I cut a few larger holes, and covered them with fine screen, which solved the problem. Oh, and try out shredded cardboard. It doesn't get all matted up like newspaper. Happy composting!
Thanks for the comments. You're right about the translucency of the container, although we had planned to keep ours in a dark pantry, so that shouldn't be much of an issue for our bin. We're going to give some heavy-duty paper or cardboard a try since the newspaper does seem to get soggy and clotted. A new episode is coming soon!
